I used to have one too ..
03 December, 2001 - 1:23 a.m.
.. a great car, that is. But then I gave it back to my parents, and struck out and bought my own. I have a feeling this is what a lot of guys are talking about when they shake their heads and say "women!" in really exasperated tones. I'd be one of the first in line to admit that I know nought about buying a car except whether it still looks good or not. I could have termites eating my carburetor (spelling?) and I'm sure I wouldn't care - so long as my baby went when I wanted her to, and stopped when I said so. Cars should have two buttons. "Go" and "stop". It'd make life so much easier. You know what I hope? I hope that one day some idiot tailgates me, and we end up on a really steep hill, and we get a red light, and I make a move to drive forward, only to roll backwards and crush the front of his car into a nice and compact cube. That'd show 'em. Blah. Anyway, my new car was working absolutely fine until I was almost home from coming back from the beach, and I'm turning a corner, and the engine just cuts out on me. Just. Like. That. It really annoys me when that happens, because I don't have jumper cables. I probably don't own jumper cables because even if I did I wouldn't know how to use them .. but that's so beside the point .. The point is that it just decided that it wanted to stop going. This is oviously what I get for buying a car off an old coot who lives 45 minutes out of town. I should have heeded my first clue when that kangaroo crossed my path on my way up there, huh? Logic .. who would've thought? :P Anyway, I had a great time at the beach. And I remember that while I was down there .. floating around on my back enjoying the whole fresh sea breeze, occasional seagull cry, and dark night sky with its abundance of twinkling stars and giving a thought here and there to the wonderful "sea water has a higher level of salt in it and therefore is denser and this is why we float so well in it" scientific theory .. that I would have to come up with some lovely, poetic, and picturesque way of painting a picture of this experience in everyone elses minds later on. Obviously I've failed. Just like my car. Damn it! I'm getting so old :D
